Felix "Cat" Dugas

New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at St. Peter Catholic Church in New Iberia for Felix "Cat" Dugas, 91, who passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019, in New Iberia. Entombment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Msgr. Keith Derouen will be the Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 5:30 pm until 9:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 7:00 pm Monday. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am. A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Dugas was born on December 18, 1927 to the late Eloi Louis Dugas and Madeline Elmira Breaux Dugas. He served our country in the Merchant Marines and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War during which he was a awarded a Purple Heart Medal. Mr. Dugas played semi pro baseball for the Pelicans, and retired from South Central Bell after 40 years of service. An accomplished golfer, he was one of the founders of the Evangeline Little League and was also a former usher at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. He also enjoyed fishing, playing with his dog “Minnie”, and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, May Landry Dugas of New Iberia; daughters, Leslie Vincent and husband Karl of New Iberia, Simone St. Upery and husband Andre of New Iberia; sons, Dr. Randy Dugas of New Iberia, Don Dugas and wife Carla of New Iberia; 9 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Vernon Dugas and Lenis Dugas. Pallbearers will be Dr. Brad Vincent, Miles St. Upery, Jason Dugas, Jacob Dugas, Karl Vincent, and Andre St. Upery. Honorary pallbearers include Mac Boudreaux, Bill Miller, and Jimmy Schwing. The family would like to give special thanks to Mr. Dugas’ caregivers, Ron Francis, Dianne Alexander, Pat Thodile, Suzy Antoine, Cathy Celestine, Barbara Frederick, Jackie Gregoire, Hope of Hospice, and nurse Jennifer Snoddy.
