Arvillien Melancon Jr.Henderson - Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 26, 2007, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Henderson for Arvillien ""June"" Melancon, Jr., 75, who died Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at St. Agnes Nursing Home in Breaux Bridge. Interment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in Henderson. Mr. Melancon was a reserve deputy for the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Department for over 34 years. ?He enjoyed gardening and meeting and talking with people. Survivors include his son, Larry Melancon and his wife, Becky Udouj Melancon of Louisville, KY; his daughters, Judy Melancon Theriot and her husband, Harold, and Vickie Melancon, all of Breaux Bridge; his step son, Gregory J. Guidroz, Sr. and his wife, Peggy Hebert Guidroz of Breaux Bridge; his step daughter, Nancy Guidroz of Breaux Bridge; his sisters, Hazel Mire, Rena Mire, both of Maurice, Gloria Tesio of Midwest City, OK and Mary Lou Halligan of Fort Collins, CO; seven grandchildren, Jamie and Angelique Theriot, Heather Schanpansky, Lance Melancon, Anthony Hollier, Shantelle Scott, and Gregory Guidroz, Jr.; and six great grandchildren, Kylie and McKenzie Scott, Ashton and Laike Theriot, Skye and Riley Hollier. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Winona Landry Champagne; his second wife, Beverly Dupuis Melancon; his parents, Mabel and Arvillien Melancon, Sr.; his sister, Dorothy Laviolette; and his son in law, David Hollier. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 a.m. ~ 10:00 p.m. on Thursday and continue at 7:00 a.m. on Friday until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening. Pellerin Funeral Home of Henderson is in charge of arrangements.

I FIRST MET MR.JUNE IN 1989 WHEN I WAS A RESERVE DEPUTY WITH THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE. MR. JUNE WAS A PEOPLE PERSON AND LOVED LIFE AND MEETING DIFFERENT PEOPLE. I WILL NEVER FORGET HIM AND FROM MEETING HIM THE FIRST TIME I CONSIDERED HIM TO BE A LIFE LONG FRIEND.I JUST RECENTLY LOST MY DAD TO LUKEMIA ON CHRISTMAS 06. IT IS VERY HARD TO LOSE A LOVED ONE,AND I CONSIDERED MR JUNE A VERY CLOSE FRIEND.MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YA'LL AT THIS TIME OF GRIEVING. MAYM GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONES.

To the family, I am sorry to hear of Mr. June's passing. He always put a smile on my face, when he would come by the sheriff's office. He would always stop by the dispatch room to talk to us. I will keep him in my prayers.
