VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE Cecilia - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, June 20, 2008, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Clement James "Clo" Batiste, 70, who passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at MeadowBrook Specialty Hospital in Lafayette. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia. Fr. Aaron Melancon, Pastor of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, will officiate at the funeral Mass. "Clo," as he was better known to his family and friends, was retired from the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office after 27 years of dedicated and loyal service. He was the owner and operator of Mary's Lounge in Breaux Bridge for 23 years. He loved horse racing, crawfishing, traveling, "politic'n" and meeting people. Survivors include his wonderful and loving wife of 53 years, Mary Louise Edmond Batiste, of Breaux Bridge; four sons, Willie Batiste, Robert Batiste, both of Henderson, Brandon Noel, of Breaux Bridge, and Rogers Broussard, of St. Martinville; four daughters, Patricia Batiste, Audrey LeBlanc, both of Breaux Bridge, Ella Batiste, of Cecilia, and Lorena Batiste, of Henderson; two sisters, Ophelia Landry, of Breaux Bridge, and Aza Mae John, of Henderson; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Batiste, Sr. and Matilda Charles Batiste; a son, Arthur Batiste; a great-great grandson, Arthur Ames; four brothers, Joseph, Robert, Homer, Jr., and Donald Batiste; and ten sisters, Emma Landry, Rose Landry, Rosie Batiste, Anna Louise Lewis, Rita Coleman, Mildred Lewis, Alice Wallace, Bertha McGee, Amae Celestine, and Augustine Mitchell. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7 a.m. on Friday and continue until 10:30 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on Friday. Officers and Staff of the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office will serve as honor guard and pallbearers. Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia is in charge of arrangements.
