Jeanerette - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Dickie Ray Brown, 75 of Jeanerette, who passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at The Carpenter House in Lafayette surrounded by his family. A eulogy will be given by his brother-in-law and close friend, Tommy Courville. Readers include Mr. Brown’s granddaughters. Interment will follow in the Liosel Cemetery in Jeanerette. A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A native of Parkin, Arkansas and a resident of Jeanerette, Dickie was born on January 25, 1943. He proudly served our country in the Louisiana National Guard and then married the love of his life of 52 years, Margaret Vernon Brown. Dickie touched many lives and made many friends working at the Port of Iberia for Houston Systems, Unifab, and Omega. He enjoyed cooking for his family, hunting, where he made many lifelong friends, fishing, and pulling for the New Orleans Saints and the LSU Tigers. Dickie especially took pride in his yard and if you passed his house every day you would see him cutting his grass. He was a proud father and the love that he had for his grandchildren was shown in immeasurable ways. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret Vernon Brown of Jeanerette; sons, Keith Brown and wife Amie of Zwolle, Jimmy Brown and wife Karen of Parks, Mike Brown and wife Gretchen of Jeanerette, Todd Brown and wife Keri of New Iberia; daughter, Donna Brown Eskine and husband Glenn of Jeanerette; grandchildren, Chance Brown, Brennan Brown and wife Jenna, Dustin Brown, Camryn Brown, Madeline Brown, Elise Brown, Gunnar Brown, Zachary Brown, Austin Brown, Kloe Brown, Brayton Eskine, Kent Eskine; and great grandchildren, Tucker Brown, and Ella Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Donald Brown, James “Jim” Brown; sister, Sue Brown LeBlanc; uncle, Jack Caldwell; aunt, Ella Caldwell; and a granddaughter, Gabrielle E. Brown. Pallbearers will be Chance Brown, Brennan Brown, Austin Brown, Zachary Brown, Dustin Brown, and Gunnar Brown. Honorary pallbearers include Glenn Eskine, Kent Eskine, Brayton Eskine, David McHugh, and Tommy Courville. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. James Falterman, Jr. and his staff, Dr. Bose Cheeran, Lisa Freyou, the staff of Iberia Medical Center, and Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center for the excellent care given to Dickie. The family would also like to thank the Carpenter House in Lafayette for the excellent care and peaceful end to Dickie’s life.
