She married the love of her life, Stephen Guidry. Together, 'Mom and Pop' owned and operated the Stephen Guidry General Merchandise Country Store and Produce Shed, on the Anse Broussard Highway, for over 40 years. They had one of the first telephones in the area and helped many of their neighbors through hard times. Raised as a child to be a devout and faithful Catholic, she first learned her prayers in French. It brought her great joy when asked to recite the 'Our Father' in French at any family gathering or private prayer time. Mom will forever be remembered with that warm, beautiful smile on her face, her 'joie de la vie' or joy of life, her egg sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, and her greasy gravy. She loved and lived for her family - they were her life. She lived a simple, comfortable, and happy life, surrounded by family and many friends, and died a quiet and peaceful death with her family at her side. Mom will be sadly missed, but long remembered for the nurturing and endless love she gave to her family until the very end. Survivors include her son, Steve (George Stephen, Jr.) Guidry and his wife, Johanna, of Breaux Bridge; one daughter, Elsie G. Dugas of Breaux Bridge; 7 grandchildren, Rowdy J. Guidry of Florida, Angela Guidry of Breaux Bridge, Ada Jayne Guidry Clark ;of Louisville, ;Kentucky, June Ellen Menard, Kim Menard, Almarie Cormier, all of Breaux Bridge, and Troy Menard of Hammond; 11 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, and one-on-the-way; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Guidry; her parents, Lucius and Ida Hardy LeBlanc; three brothers, Abel, Clesma, and Dalex LeBlanc; four sisters, Edna Cormier, Gladys Roy, Edith Landry, and Julie Roy; and two sons-in-law, Percy Menard and Hector Dugas. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday, and continue on Saturday at 9 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. A rosary will be recited by Deacon Ken Soignier at 7 p.m. on Friday.
