Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Monday, January 21, 2013, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Genevieve Broussard Ayo, 86, who passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Lafayette General Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday, and continue on Monday at 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Sunday by Deacon Marcel 'Butch' Hebert. Fr. Chester Arceneaux will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Alison Lognion, Ashley Ayo Guy and David Ayo and Gift Bearers will be her daughters-in-law. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum - No. 1 in Breaux Bridge. A devout Catholic, Mrs. Ayo was a lifelong parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society and a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was also a charter member of the Pink Ladies of Gary Memorial Hospital, now St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge, and enjoyed volunteering many hours at the hospital visiting with patients. She and her husband, Ernest, were known throughout St. Martin Parish for taking numerous portraits of weddings for many years. Genny loved to bake and was well known for her delicious cakes, which she shared with her family and friends. As a pastime she also enjoyed quilting and reading. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by four sons, Danny Ayo and wife, Janice, of Maurice, Bobby Ayo and wife, Myrna, of Breaux Bridge, Ted Ayo and wife, Karen, of Abbeville, and Gary Ayo of Breaux Bridge; one daughter, Julia Ayo Lognion and husband, Gene, of Lafayette; her stepson, Ernest Ayo, Jr. and wife, Sonia; three sisters, Carrie Baudoin of Lafayette, Beverly Theriot of Austin, TX, and Ruby Robin of Breaux Bridge; 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Paul Ayo, Sr.; her mother, Clemence Bergeron Broussard; her father, Michel Broussard; two brothers, Ray Broussard and Clifford Broussard, and an infant brother, Michel Broussard, Jr. Honored to serve as her Pallbearers, are her children and son-in-law. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Ste. 200, Lafayette, LA 70503. The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks and appreciation to her loyal and devoted caregivers: Lacy Stelly, Ethel Dore, Tammy Landry, Agnes Patin, and Linda Stelly, as well as to her doctors, Drs. Milton Jolivette and Glen Mire, and to Hospice of Acadiana. The care and compassion you gave our mother over the years was immeasurable and we can never thank you enough.
