Georgiana Malveaux

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 am, on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Saint Martinville, for Georgiana Mallery Malveaux, 98, who passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Iberia Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Friday and continue at 7:00 am until 8:30 am on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Friday. Rev. Augustinus Seran, SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Dwaina Malveaux and Rebecca Malbreaux. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Saint Martinville. Mrs. Malveaux was a devout Catholic who enjoyed reciting the Rosary in French, offering her daily devotions of prayers and petitions to those in need. When she was no longer able to attend Sunday Mass, she then took great pleasure in watching her Mass on television and loved listening to Gospel music. She was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary. Georgiana was a wonderful cook and loved to prepare meals for her family and friends to enjoy. She looked forward to each and every holiday, because it gave her the opportunity to spend time with her family - it was a time in which she treasured deeply. She is survived by six sons, Ernest Malveaux of New Iberia, Warren Malveaux of St. Martinville, Russell (Madeline) Malveaux of Lafayette, Frank (Mary) Malveaux Jr. and L.J. (Beverly) Malveaux, all of St. Martinville, and Clifton (Marlene) Malveaux of Shreveport; her daughter, Mary Jones of Shreveport; 30 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Malveaux Sr.; a daughter, Rose Matthews; and her parents, Israel and Marion Lasseigne Mallery. Pallbearers will be Clifton Malveaux, Frank Malveaux, Jr., Corey Malveaux, Bryant Malveaux, Doran Malveaux, and Whitney Porter. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
