Irene Willis

St.Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Monday, November 21, 2011, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Irene Alexander Willis, 88, who passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2011, at her residence. Rev. Augustinus Seran, SVD, will officiate at the funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Torri Michelle Willis and Jada Willis. Gift Bearers will be Mark Albert Alexander, Monica Jones, Stacey Noil, Dionne Landry, and Stephanie Landry. Entombment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville. Mrs. Willis loved cooking and baking and was known for her delicious pecan candies. She especially enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends. Survivors include her sons, Arthur G. Willis (Lynie) and Ronald B. Willis; her daughters, Jo Ann Willis Fontnette (Ronald) and Debra Willis Zacharie (John), all of St. Martinville; 14 grandchildren, Trisha Ann Willis, Arletta Lynette Willis, Jason B. Willis, Damon Francis, Greg Fontnette, Brian Fontnette, Jeremy Fontnette, Ronald Fontnette, Jr., Crystal Boudreaux, Dionne S. Landry, Stephanie E. Landry, Monica Yvette Jones, Stacey Noil, and Scott Jude Jones; 20 great grandchildren, Abrien Keith Ledet, Torri Michelle Willis, Jada Willis, Kendall LeBlanc, Javian Willis, Dasha Francis, D.J. Francis, Imani Alexander, Tyler Fontnette, Brooke Fontnette, Tristin Fontnette, Terrance Anthony, Mekhalen Fontnette, Jaylin Fontnette, Jayden Fontnette, Timothy Fontnette, Alexis Fontnette, D'ondrie Daniel Landry, Marcus Bourda, Jr., and Alexandria Noil; and 1 great-great grandchild, Kohl LeBlanc. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Willis; a daughter, Maureen Willis Jones; her parents, Albert and Anna Bourda Alexander; 3 brothers, Charles, Walter, and Iran Alexander; and 3 sisters, Elizabeth James, Anna Wiltz, and Eda Bourda. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home on Monday from 7:30 a.m. and continue until 10:15 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. on Monday. Pallbearers will be Jason Willis, Scott Jones, Brian Fontnette, Greg Fontnette, Ronald Fontnette, Jr., and Jeremy Fontnette. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald B. Willis, Arthur G.
