New Iberia Graveside services will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia, for Jimmie T. Haddox, 88, who died on Saturday, September 7, 2013 in New Iberia. A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. Mr. Haddox was born on January 8, 1925 in Milano, Texas, and was the son of Homer King Haddox and Mittie Nora Edmonds Haddox. He served our country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II as a radio/telegraph operator aboard a C-47 paratrooper transport in the European Theatre, including the Normandy Invasion. Mr. Haddox worked for Exxon in Texas and Louisiana for 33 years, and retired as a mechanical supervisor at Avery Island. A member of the LAcadian Exxon Club, his hobbies included hunting, fishing, and tinkering. He could fix just about anything. He and his wife Violet grew up across the road from each other and were married for 66 years. They enjoyed dancing and camping with many friends. Survivors include his wife, Violet Hartley Haddox of New Iberia; children, James Haddox and wife Connie of Houston, Texas, Larry Haddox and wife Shirlene of New Iberia, Ricky Haddox of New Iberia, Susan LeBlanc and husband Norman of New Iberia; sister-in-law, Barbara Gilliland of Milano, Texas; grandchildren, Laurie Gondron and husband Kevin, Lance LeBlanc and wife Summer, Leah LeBlanc; step grandchildren, Donna Armentor, Liz Bullington, Janet Armentor; 2 great grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Lewis Haddox, Homer Haddox, Johnnie Haddox, Robert Joe Haddox; and a sister, Mittie Burgess. Pallbearers include Lance LeBlanc, Mark Brantley, J.R. Hurt, Kevin Gondron, Ricky Davidson, and Kris Nelson. Honorary pallbearer will be Pat Lohr. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lydia Cancer Association, P.O. Box 731, Lydia, LA 70569.
