John Johnson

St. Martinville - Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm, on Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in St. Martinville, for John Edward Johnson, 64, who passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Iberia Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 8:00 am until 12:45 pm on Sunday. Mr. Johnson was an employee of Texaco for 38 years and 5 years with P.M.I. He was a graduate of Grambling State University and of the Affiliated Blind of Louisiana Training Center in 2010. He was a member of the Rising Sun Masonic Lodge 84 in St. Martinville for the last 10 years. He enjoyed cooking, eating and listening to music; also loved writing musical lyrics. He always extended a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed the company of his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Edna Mitchell Johnson; five daughters, Johnelle Johnson (Ronald) Charles, Brandye Johnson (Jimmie) Batiste, Ashley Johnson (Brian) Green, Shamika (Jimmy) Barnes, and Lakisha Thibodeaux; 14 grandchildren; one brother, Calvin (Linda Clay) Killion; four sisters, Cleo (Joseph) Harrison, Lillie Mae Evans, Thelma Johnson, and Izola Johnson; and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Johnson; mother, Zular Killion Johnson; his brother and sister, Jerome Killion and Theodosia Fletcher; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
