Juanita Hypolite

St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11 a .m., on Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Juanita Skipper Hypolite, 80, who passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Fr. Augustinus Seran, SVD will conduct the services. Scriptures will be read by Bernard Mitchell, Jr. and Donovan Flegeance Interment will follow at Union Baptist Cemetery in St. Martinville. Mrs. Hypolite was a devout Catholic and parishioner of Notre Dame Catholic Church where she attended Mass regularly, and was a member of the Goodwill Society and the St. Martinville Mardi Gras Association. She worked hard all her life to make a good living in order to provide for her family. Mrs. Hypolite enjoyed cooking and visiting with family and friends. In her free time she also enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, and watching basketball. Survivors include her loving husband, Clarence Hypolite, Sr. of St. Martinville; four sons, Shelby Hypolite (Christine) of Thibodaux, Clarence Hypolite, Jr., Wilbert Hypolite (Alisha), all of St. Martinville, and Carl Hypolite (Quintella) of Beaumont, TX; five daughters, Linda Pickney (Andie), Judy Bennett (Bobby), Juanita Mitchell (Bernard, Jr.), Pearl Jones (Wilton), and Wanda Babin, all of St. Martinville; two sisters, Lorenza Flegeance and Margaret Mitchell, both of St. Martinville; two brothers, Clarence Skipper, Jr. (Philomena) of Lafayette, and Joseph Skipper of St. Martinville; 20 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Albertine and Clarence Skipper, Sr.; and two brothers, Harry and Sherry Skipper. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Pallbearers will be Marcus Hypolite, Bernard Mitchell, III, Damian Hypolite, Chase Pickney, Adolph Marshall, and Sherard Thibodeaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Hypolite, Wilbert Hypolite, Clarence Hypolite, Jr., Clarence Skipper, Sr., Shelby Hypolite, Joseph Skipper, Andie Pickney, Wilton Jones, Bobby Bennett, and Bernard Mitchell, Jr. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
