New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 11, 2006, at St. Peter Catholic Church in New Iberia for Kristen Ambri Barras, 18, who died Thursday, December 7, 2006 in New Iberia. Interment will be in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Coteau. Fr. Jody Halphen will officiate at the funeral mass. Kristen was a senior at Catholic High School in New Iberia and a member of the Catholic High Peer Counseling Group. She was a 12-year student at Gail Freeze School of Dance and worked at the St. Edwards School After-Care Program and as a summer counselor for the New Iberia Recreation Department. Survivors include her parents, Terry and Wendy L. Barras; her brother, Tyson M. Barras, all of New Iberia; her maternal grandparents, Clenis and Bobbie Lasseigne of Coteau Holmes; her paternal grandmother, Theresa G. Barras of New Iberia; her aunts, godmother, Lori Miller and her husband, J.C., Jr. and Fran Lasseigne and her husband, Lonnie; her uncles, Dale Barras and his wife, Liz and Danny Barras and his wife, Janice; and numerous cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Floyd Barras; and her great grandparents, Leona and Eufice Chataignier, Marcel and Linda Gardimal, Wilson and Candid Barras, Sr., and Claybert and Anastasia Lasseigne. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. ~ 10:00 p.m. on Sunday and continue at 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday evening. Pallbearers will be Lonnie Lasseigne, J.C. Miller, Jr., Dale Barras, Tyson Barras, Foster Patout, and Alana Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Alexus Allemond, Danny Barras, David Allemond, Steve Alleman, Scott Patout, Jon Stanridge, Kevinnie Moore and Seth Whittle. Pellerin Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
