Loraine Trahan

July 7, 1930 — August 18, 2012

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Monday, August 20, 2012, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Loraine Chatagnier Trahan, 82, who passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Iberia Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 2:30 pm until 10:00 pm on Sunday and continue on Monday at 7:00 am until 10:30 am. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Sunday. Rev. Rusty P. Richard will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Altar Servers will be Ty and Blair Theriot. The readers will be Lori Trahan Theriot and Colleen Trahan Broussard. Gift Bearers will be Tommy Trahan, David Chatagnier, and Nell Pelafigue. Interment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville. Mrs. Trahan was a lifelong parishioner of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Coteau Holmes - a devout Catholic who prayed the Rosary daily offering petitions for those in need. She was a wonderful cook and loved to cook every chance she could. Loraine and her friends made it a point to get together to visit with each other and share a cup of coffee. She is survived by two sons, Tommy Trahan and wife, Dot, and Timmie Trahan and wife Annette, all of St. Martinville; three grandchildren, Lori Theriot and husband, Chad, Colleen Broussard and husband, Steve, and Corey Trahan and wife, Jamie; and seven great grandchildren, Drew Theriot, Ty Theriot, Blair Theriot, Ali Theriot, Baylie Trahan, Cameron Trahan, and Demi Trahan. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 27 years, Alcide Trahan; her parents, Willie and Amenthe Barras Chatagnier; a granddaughter, Monique Trahan; seven sisters, Inez Boudreaux, Anna LeBlanc, Mathilde Bertrand, Yola Lasseigne, Therese Dugas, Laure Molbert, and Elmire Savoy ; and two brothers, Percy and Antoine Chatagnier. Pallbearers will be Corey Trahan, Tommy Trahan, Timmie Trahan, Chad Theriot, Steve Broussard, and Dwayne Solari. Honorary Pallbearers will be Baylie Trahan, Cameron Trahan, and Drew Theriot. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
