New Iberia - Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2012, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Lucille 'Sis' Greenlee Eldridge, who died on July 2, 2012, at Belle Teche Nursing Home in New Iberia. Interment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Paul Fontenot of First United Methodist Church will officiate. Family pastor and friend Rev. Scott Bullock is out of town. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home. Lucille 'Sis' Eldridge was born in Washington, Louisiana, December 23, 1918. On January 24, 1939, she married Adam 'Pat' Eldridge, originally of Loreauville, and moved to New Iberia. In the 1950's, they had Pat's Package Liquor and Magazines on West Main Street. In the 60's, Sis went to work at Dauterive's Hospital on Duperier until the move to Lewis Street. At that time, she began working for the Urology Clinic with Drs. Edmond Lamperez and Carrol Guinn until her retirement in the 1980's. Then her favorite pastime was escaping with a good book; and she never missed an episode of 'Murder, She Wrote'. For many years, she and Pat met weekly with close friends for bouree` and poker and supper. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents Frank Greenlee and Alcie Carter Greenlee of Lake Charles; father-in-law Thomas Eldridge of Loreauville and mother-in-law Louise David Eldridge of New Iberia; sisters Geneva Greenlee of Washington, Louise Greenlee Duplechain Johnson of Port Barre, Shirley Greenlee Breaux of Sunset, and Vera Greenlee Chambers Provost of Lake Charles, and brothers Frank Greenlee, Jr. and Thomas Greenlee of Lake Charles and all of their respective spouses; her son-in-law Fred Staggs, Jr. of Tyler, Texas; and two step-grandsons, Carlton Lamont Larson, Jr., and Christopher Avery Larson. She is survived by two sisters, Sadie Greenlee Fontenot of Sulphur and Juanita Greenlee Warner of Coward, SC; son Ron Eldridge of Broussard and former daughter-in-law, Bebe Nolan Eldridge of San Jose, CA; daughter Norma Eldridge Staggs of New Iberia; step-daughter Sylvia Eldridge Larson and husband Carlton of New Iberia; grandchildren Cat Staggs and wife Amanda Deibert of Los Angeles, CA; Ben Staggs of Vancouver, B.C., Canada; Daniel Eldridge and wife Lizzie of Hayward, CA; Elizabeth Eldridge Vitale and husband Chris of Athens, GA; step-grandchildren Karen Larson Ladmirault and husband Wardell of Youngsville; Mary Ellen Larson Wilke and husband Jerry of Broussard; and Claire Larson Flores and husband Ray of Youngsville; step-great-grandchildren Caitlin Ladmirault, Ian Ladmirault and wife Elena, Jason Wilke, Rebecca Wilke, Sophie Flores, and Zoe Eldridge; and four step-great-great-grandchildren, Holland and Parker Wilke, and Aubrey and Peyton Ladmirault, as well as many much-loved nieces, nephews and cousins. Pall bearers will be Ray Flores, Wardell Ladmirault, Ian Ladmirault, Jerry Wilke, Jason Wilke, and Carlton Larson. Honorary pall bearers are Ben Staggs, Daniel Eldridge, Chris Vitale, Clarence Callahan of Honolulu, HI, Bobby Fox of Grand Coteau, Jim Burleigh of Sunset, and George Laurents and John Hardy of New Iberia. The family wish to thank the faithfully vigilant angels of Belle Teche Nursing Home for the excellent care they gave Lucille; and the Heart of Hospice employees for their untiring services.
