Patsy Marguet

March 17, 1938 — March 19, 2016

St. Martinville - A Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm, on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in St. Martinville, for Patsy Douglas Marguet, 78. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm on Saturday. Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert will officiate at the Memorial Service. Inurnment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville. Patsy Douglas Marguet joined the choir of angels on March 19, 2016, singing first soprano as she had all her life on earth. Born to Madie (Mary Elizabeth Lantz) and Woodrow Douglas on March 17, 1938, Patsy grew up in Pecos, Texas, graduating with honors from Pecos High School. Not only a scholar, Patsy had fun! She was a cheerleader, played volleyball and contributed to a happy life at PHS. She continued her success as a masters-degree graduate from Sul Ross University in Alpine, Texas, where she was named to Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. During her years at Sul Ross, she was the wife of Otis Henson and mother of two fine boys, Mark Henson, now living in Ruidoso, New Mexico, and Russell Henson of St. Martinville, Louisiana. Her daughter, Jolynn Henson, preceded her in death as a result of a car accident in St. Martinville. After that time, Patsy left Louisiana to live near family in California, New Mexico, and in Texas. Wherever she was, she was involved in her church, sang first soprano with the choir, and brought joy to friends and family. While living in Frisco, Texas, Patsy began to struggle with memory. She would lose her way while driving to familiar locations and was unable to find her path home. She would forget important information. Ultimately, Patsy was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. She then moved to Lafayette to be near her son, Russell Henson and his wife, Frances, who lovingly cared for Patsy. A bonus to her move was being near her three beloved granddaughters, Jessica Henson Caldarera, Katherine Henson Dawes, and Amy Henson. Patsy is survived by her loving sons and their families, Mark Henson, his wife Cheryll, and their children, Jacob Henson and LeeAnn Henson; Russell Henson, his wife Frances, and their children Jessica Caldarera (Josh), Katherine Dawes, and Amy Henson; her great grandchildren, Rylee Caldarera, and Sutton and Deacon Dawes; and her sisters, Linda Robison (David), and Vickie Spoor. Patsy's memory left her, but the memories live on with those she loved. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in her name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Ste. 200, Lafayette, LA 70503. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville, 112 New Market St., St. Martinville, Louisiana 70582, (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
