New Iberia- Private services will be held for the immediate family of Phol Daotheuang (Maa Yai), who passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, April 18, 2020. Phol was born on June 15, 1930 in Thailand to Chanh and Lai Ounehouane.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sengchanh Daotheuang; five brothers and one sister in Thailand; and son, Kwan Daotheuang in New Iberia.
She is survived by eight daughters, Souay Nammakoth of New Orleans, Khammanh Ounehouane of Laos, Deng Daotheuang of Laos, Boupha Daotheuang of New Iberia, Vanh Daotheuang of St. Martinville, Chanthala Phanthavong of Eugene, Or., Khenta Romero of Coteau, and Nan Daotheuang of Coteau; two sons, Pomma Ounehouane of Laos, Sawang Ounehouane of Thailand; 25 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. Maa Yai was deeply loved and will be truly missed by her family.
Due to the Coronavirus crisis, there will be no visitation; however, there will be a memorial service at a later date. Phol will be buried next to her husband in Coteau, La.
The Daotheuang family would like to thank Lourdes Hospice and especially Maa Yai’s nurse, Kaitlyn, for her loving care and patience to our family. We greatly appreciate everyone’s love and prayers during this difficult time.
