Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Monday, January 2, 2012, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Sherman Anthony Murphy, 66, who passed away on Friday, December 30, 2011, at his residence. Rev. Donald Poussan, will conduct the services. Reading the scriptures will be Monica Gilmore. Courtney Boudreaux and Kristen Gilmore will serve as gift bearers. Interment will follow at St. Edwards Cemetery in Richard. Mr. Murphy served as an usher at St. Bernard Catholic Church. Survivors include his companion, Renee R. Delahoussaye; his brother, Allen L. Murphy and his wife, Julia; his sisters, Evelyn M. Higginbotham and her husband, Ollie, Jeanette L. McBride and her husband, John Howard and Katherine Venable and her husband, Randy.He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Warren Murphy and a brother, Michael Joseph Murphy. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2:00 p m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday and continue at 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday. Pallbearers will be Briley Venable, Courtney Venable, Cody Boudreaux, Michael (Todd) Higginbotham and John Raymond. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Webre.
