Vernice Stelly

Arnaudville - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 13, 2007, at St. John Francis Regis ?Catholic Church in Arnaudville, for Vernice Tauzin Stelly, 81, who died on Thursday, August 09, 2007 at her residence in Arnaudville. Interment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville. Fr. Keenan Brown, pastor of St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church will conduct the services. Readers will be Dolly Willis and Marella Wilkerson. ?Gift Bearers for the service will be her grandchildren. Vocalist will be Pat Menard, violinist, Tommy Benoit and organist, Beth Hebert Mrs. Stelly earned a BA Degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. ?She was a teacher for 25 years having taught at the schools in Cecilia and Arnaudville. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and the Retired Teachers Association. ?She enjoyed traveling the United States and abroad. ?She will be missed by her family, friends, grandchildren and great grandchildren who loved her so deeply. Survivors include her sons, Bert Louis Stelly and his wife, Glenda L. of Arnaudville and Glenn James Stelly and his wife, Elaine R. of Arnaudville; her sister, Annie Stoute of Arnaudville; her grandchildren, Amy S. Nunez, Glenn Stelly II, Jill S. Guidry, Kristen S. Lavergne, Louis James Stelly II and Katherine M. Stelly all of Arnaudville; her great grandchildren, Ava Guidry, Isabella Nunez, Connor Lavergne, Asher Guidry, and Kaede Louque all of Arnaudville. She was preceded in death by her husband James Stelly; her parents, Avie and Clela Babin Tauzin; and her sister, Mary Richard. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00p.m. until 9:00p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2007 and continue at 7:00 a.m. on Monday until time of service. A rosary will be recited by Fr. Gary Schexnayder at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. Pallbearers will be Carl Richard, Keith Richard, Louis James Stelly II, Fred Stoute, Clint Nunez and Davey Lavergne. Honorary pallbearer will be Glenn J. Stelly, II. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St, Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503 and M.D. Anderson Hospital of Houston, Texas. Pellerin Funeral Home of Arnaudville is in charge of arrangements.
