Victor "Vic" Delcambre

New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, December 31, 2018, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in New Iberia for Victor "Vic" Delcambre, 84, who passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018, in Lafayette. Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery. Rev. Keith Landry and Rev. Mark Miley will be the Celebrants. A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 6:30 pm Sunday. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 am until 10:30 am. A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Delcambre was born on March 29, 1934 to the late Jess Delcambre and Lydia LeBlanc. He worked for the Iberia Parish Sheriff Department for 13 years, and has been the City Marshall of New Iberia since 1978. Mr. Delcambre was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Woodmen of the World, Louisiana Peace Officers Association and the Louisiana Marshall’s Association. He enjoyed playing golf and riding horses. Survivors include his wife, Gracie "Pearl" Simon Delcambre of New Iberia; son, Jesse A. Delcambre and wife Tommye of Arnaudville; daughters, Wendy Sue "T-Boy" Broussard of New Iberia, Kim Behringer and husband Scott of New Iberia; grandchildren, Shane Delcambre, Alicia Stell and spouse Matthew, Kesla Broussard, Bobby Behringer, Demi Hayes and spouse Nick; great grandchildren, Gavin Behringer, Amalie Delcambre, Breck Delcambre, Anslee Hayes, and Evelyn Stell. He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Delcambre; mother, Lydia LeBlanc Welborn; and a brother, Jerry Delcambre. Pallbearers will be Shane Delcambre, Bobby Behringer, Matt Stell, Nick Hayes, Keith Delcambre, and Danny Bourque. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Acadiana Hope for A Cure Society, P.O. Box 9578, New Iberia, LA 70562 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
