The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Tuesday and continue at 9:00 am until 12:30 pm on Wednesday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Tuesday. Rev. Keenan W. Brown will officiate at the funeral service. Interment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery. Vioris 'Joe' Olivier was born and raised in Arnaudville, LA. He graduated from Cecilia High School and joined the Navy in 1946. After returning home from the service, he attended and graduated from T.H. Harris Technical School in Opelousas. He was employed by Gulf States Utilities (Entergy) in Lafayette until his retirement in 1993. One of his passions in life was music and he had a natural gift in playing the accordion and guitar. He loved hunting, fishing and camping. Generally, he was an outdoorsman. He often would amuse family and friends with his wit and sense of humor. He had many French sayings and phrases that he will be remembered by. He was very proud of his two grandchildren and supported them by attending all of their school activities and events. He had a passion for his family and dedicated his life to them. He was hard-working, strong and kind. For years, he selflessly made sacrifices to ensure that his family members had not only what they needed, but also what they wanted. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be sadly and deeply missed, but we will cherish his memories forever. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Rose Marks Olivier of Arnaudville; his children, Debra A. Olivier and Karen O. Babineaux, of Carencro; two grandchildren, Brennen Joseph McCullough and Michael Joseph Zanetti; one brother, Burton Olivier of Arnaudville; and one sister, Mrs. Otis (Helen) Richard of Port Barre. He was preceded in death by his parents, Senie and Regina Olivier; two brothers, Larry and C.J. Olivier; and five sisters, Etta Miller, Rena Olivier, Elsie Guidroz, Rita Castille, and Joyce Robin. Pallbearers will be Brennen J. McCullough, Michael J. Zanetti, and Charles Babineaux. Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends. The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff of St. Joseph Hospice, for their kindness, compassion, and gentle care given to Mr. Olivier during his time of need.
