William Friedman

Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for William J. Friedman, Sr.. Bill was 78 years old and passed away peacefully, at his home, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, January 31, 2013. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1:30 pm until 9 p.m. on Friday, February 1st, and continue on Saturday at 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary will be recited by John Boudreaux at 7 p.m. on Friday. Fr. Allen Breaux will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Kaylie Blanchard and Liz Friedman. Gift Bearers will be Claire Friedman, Rachel Friedman, Stephanie Haynes, and Brittany Friedman. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Bill graduated in 1955 from Southwestern Louisiana Instititute, now U.L. at Lafayette. He was the ultimate New Orleans Saints fan and an avid golfer - he enjoyed sports. Bill coached a youth football team in St. Martinville for 8 years. Bill was a loving and devoted husband for 59 years and proud father of six children, Bonnie, Bill, Jr., Ted, Wanda, Susan, and Steven. He will be missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Lou Anna B. Friedman; three sons, William "Bill" Friedman, Jr. and his wife, Liz, Ted Friedman and his wife, Samantha, and Steven Friedman; three daughters, Bonnie Friedman, Wanda Haynes and her husband, Kenneth, and Susan Guidry and her husband, Daniel; two brothers, Charles Friedman and his wife, Pamela, and Ernest Friedman, Jr. and his wife, Joycelyn; one sister, Irene Picard and her husband, Lawrence; nine grandchildren, Stephanie Haynes, Jason Friedman, Rachel and Claire Friedman, Blake and Paul LeVasseur, Tyler, and Brittany Friedman, and Jared Haynes; and five great grandchildren, Cameron LeVasseur, Kaylie Blanchard, Layne Jordon, Lydia Jordan, and Sophie Haynes. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest H. and Lydia Guidry Friedman. Pallbearers will be William "Bill" Friedman Jr., Ted Friedman, Steven Friedman, John Boudreaux, Blake LeVasseur, and Jared Haynes. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Friedman, Paul LeVasseur, and Tyler Friedman. Pellerin Funeral Home , 211 Berard St., Breaux Bridge, LA 70517, (337.332.2199), is in charge of arrangements.
