William Leon Ringgold, Jr.

September 3, 1960 — August 14, 2020

A Farewell to William Leon “Bus” Ringgold William Leon Ringgold Jr., known to most as “Bus”, was born September 3, 1960 in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late William Sr. and Geraldine Ringgold. Bus gained his wings and ascended home to be with the Lord our Savior on Friday, August 14, 2020. A student of the Baltimore City Public School System, he graduated in 1978 from Northwestern High School. Shortly after graduation, he attended Lincoln Technical Institute and then furthered his education at both Baltimore City Community College and Strayer University, studying Business Administration at the former and Computer Science at the latter. Bus began his career at McCormick & Company where he became part of the McCormick team for many years. He later moved on to work for Proctor & Gamble, the United States Postal Service, the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) and eventually found a home at Mesilla Valley Trucking after completing the academy for truck drivers training and receiving his CDL license. Receiving his CDL license allowed him to fulfill his dream as an interstate trucker—the greatest love of his career. He cherished traveling throughout the U.S.—it was always exciting to hear where he was and where he was traveling to next. Bus was free. Bus was joyful and always there to make you laugh. He could make a bad situation funny—somehow finding a way to put a smile on your face even in the toughest of times. His playful, upbeat attitude made him adored by many. And although he was always on the go, he moved with love and was just a phone call away if you needed him. William loved his children, his family and his old Derby Manor neighborhood family whom he stayed in close contact with. He leaves to celebrate the memory of life: two daughters, Shawanda Dennis and Kenya Ringgold; a son, Philip Ringgold; a beloved ex-wife, Darcel Ringgold; a brother, Steven Ringgold; a sister, Sharon Harmon; three grandchildren, Laila and Lauryn Dennis and Ariel Ringgold; a sister-in-law, Judy Ringgold; a brother-in-law, Isaac Harmon; a son-in-law, Corey Dennis; nieces Morgan Ringgold and Tiffany and Alexandra Harmon; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Bus begins the next walk of life in another realm, but his light will continue to shine bright for those whose hearts he touched.
