Adam Alexander

St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. , on Saturday, March 12, 2011 , at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Adam Joseph Alexander, 77, who passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Heart Hospital of Lafayette. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville. Fr. Justin Arockiasamy, will conduct the services. Readers will be Diedra Chambers and Natasha Ferdimand. Adam was a member of True Friend Society and the Benevolent Society. He enjoyed horse racing, entertaining his grandchildren and large cookouts with his family. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor. Adam was employed 35 years with the St. Martin Parish School Board and 15 years with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office. Survivors include his son, Dwayne Alexander of St. Martinville; his daughter Rose Alexander of St. Martinville; his sister, Rose Mae Lewis of St. Martinville; his grandchildren, Vachel and Rachel Alexander and his great grandchildren, Daija, Tyja and Brona Alexander. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Harriet Benoit Alexander; his wife, Joe Ann Francis Alexander; his former wife, Anna Belle Alexander Johnson; his brothers, Edgar, Clerfy, Clarence, John, Lennis and Dennis Alexander; and his sisters, Ann Chatman, Felicie Thibodeaux and Mary Delahoussaye. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011 . A rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
