Ailwood "AJ" Guidry

Cecilia- A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for Ailwood "AJ" Guidry, 90, who passed away on December 2, 2022 at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Cecilia on Wednesday from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM.

A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 am by Deacon Perry Guidry.

Rev. Greg Cormier will officiate the memorial mass. Readers will be Janell Guidry and Grant Guidry. Gift bearers will be Morganne Guidry and Presley Dauphine.

Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Ailwood Joseph Guidry, known to many as "AJ," was born September 25, 1932 in St. Martin Parish. He honorably served in the National Guard of the United States from 1949-1962. He worked at South Central Bell for many years and retired in 1989. AJ married the love of his life, Janet, and were married for 56 years.

He was a member of the Acadiana Campers and a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Henderson. AJ loved to be outdoors and enjoyed being at his houseboat or cutting his grass. His family meant everything to him and he cherished his time spent with them. He will be deeply missed by all.

He is survived by children, Royce Guidry (Sherry), Randall Guidry (Janell) and Renee' Dauphine (Tommy); grandchildren, Aaron Dauphine (Staci), Allison Dauphine, Andy Dauphine (Ashley), Annette Dugas (Bennett), Morganne Guidry, and Grant Guidry; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by wife, Janet Allemand Guidry; parents, Davous and Laida LeBlanc Guidry; grandchild, Crystal Prejean; great grandchild, Ashley Schoen; and his siblings, Mary Lou Bartell and LeeAnna Serrette.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to J. Michael Morrow Nursing Home and Dr. Kirk Elliot and his staff for the loving care given to AJ.
