New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Alden Joseph Dugas, 85 who died Sunday, January 23, 2011 in New Iberia . Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant. Lacy Touchet and Brandi Briggs will proclaim the readings. Gift Bearers include Ryeley Broussard, Devon Briggs, Keeghan Romero, and Linzi Romero. Born on February 16, 1925 , Mr. Dugas was a native and lifelong resident of Iberia Parish. He worked as an auto mechanic for Ford City and Auto Mart, and enjoyed gardening in his spare time. Survivors include his grandchildren, Troy A. Romero and fianc Lacy Touchet of New Iberia, Trudy A. Romero and friend Matt Romero of New Iberia; great grandchildren, Ryeley Broussard, Brandi Briggs, Devon Briggs, Linzi Romero, Keegan Romero; great grandchildren, Carsen Matthews, Camren Broussard; brother, Gilbert Dugas and wife Betty of Iberia Parish; sisters, Anna Norris and husband Otto, Jean Chaffin, and Rena Babineaux and husband Chester all of Iberia Parish. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Victoria Fremin Dugas; daughters, Joyce Romero, Barbara Dugas, son-in-law, Alton 'Pete' Romero; parents, Avery and Eronie Lopez Dugas. Pallbearers will be Troy Romero, Matt Romero, Harold Landry, Pat Norris, Jay Fremin, and Lewis Babin. Honorary pallbearers will be Gilbert Dugas, Devon Briggs, Keegan Romero, and Isaac Vice. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 9:30 AM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd , in New Iberia . A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Tuesday.
