Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. , on Saturday, June 11, 2011 , at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge , for Aldus 'Dus' Courville, 90, who passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Regional Medical Center of Acadiana.
Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.
'Dus' was a perfectionist when it came to his home. He visited with family and friends often, especially those who were homebound. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards and cooking his cornbread for his family. On Sunday's he would stop by Champagne's Bakery and buy lemon meringue pie to bring home to enhance the wonderful meal that his lovely, wife, Rena, had prepared. 'Dus' never missed his Mass.
Survivors include his daughters, Betty Broussard and her husband, John E. of Lafayette, Judy Darby and her husband, John Wayne of Rayne, and Nancy Melancon and her husband, Donald J. Melancon, Jr. of Franklin; his sister in law, Verlie Courville of Nina; his 7 grandchildren, Tommy James Broussard, Jeannette Pop, Travis Neal Guillot, Casey Roy Guillot, Ronnie Guidry, Melissa Bourque, and Sarah Marr; and his 8 great grandchildren, Stefan Broussard, Iulian Pop, Alesha Guidry, Robert Joseph Guidry, Hannah Guidry, Tyler Boudoin, Alexander Boudoin, and Chandler LeBlanc.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvan and Lucilla Theriot Courville; his wife, Rena Angelle Courville; and his brothers, Alpha, Alcee, Aristile, Alexander Courville, and his infant brother.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:30 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. on Friday and continue at 7 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Pallbearers will be John Broussard, John Darby, Donald Melancon, Norris Courville, Johnny Boudreaux, and Terry Courville.
