Catahoula A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at St. Rita Catholic Church in Catahoula, for Alexandre Doucet, Jr., 64, who passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2013.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Dion Hall in Catahoula from 10:00 am on Wednesday and continue until 9:30 am on Thursday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Wednesday.
Rev. Richard Fabre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Rhonda Doucet and Trudy D. Trahan. Gift Bearers will be Savannah B. LeBlanc and Lauren Frederick. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Catahoula.
Alexandre worked in the oilfield industry for 43 years. During those years he worked as a roustabout, crewman, derrick man, driller, then as a rig supervisor.
He loved playing baseball for Chez Sidney and the Over 50 league. He also enjoyed going camping on weekends, family card games, duck hunting, cooking and get-togethers with family and friends.
Alexandre was a great son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, father-in-law, son-in-law, and friend to many, who will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Borel Doucet; his daughter, Josette D. (Jordan) Derouen; three brothers, Jerry (companion, Terri Hyatt) Doucet, Terry (Lynette Guidry) Doucet, and Perry (Linda Talley) Doucet; four sisters, Peggy D. Robin, Tessie D. (Gilman) Prados, Elsie D. (Roy) Albert, and Arsene D. Blanchard; two grandchildren, Destiny Sonnier and Cameron Derouen; and his father-in-law, Septieme Borel.
He is preceded in death by his father, Alexandre Doucet, Sr.; his mother, Tessie Lasseigne Doucet; paternal grandparents, Willie and Rita Borel Lasseigne; maternal grandparents, Theo and Arsene Courville Doucet; his sibling, Daisey Adam Doucet; a niece, Rebecca Becky Doucet; and his mother-in-law, Edmonia Dugas Borel.
Pallbearers will be Perry Doucet, Terry Doucet, Jordan Derouen, Ronald Borel, George Crosby, and Lawrence Simoneaux.
Honorary pallbearer will be Carol Blanchard.
