New Iberia – Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm on October 25, 2024, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Alfred M. Monger, II, 78, who passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024, in Jennings, LA.
Inurnment with military honors will follow at Rosehill Cemetery in New Iberia.
Visitation will be at Pellerin Funeral Home from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm.
Alfred McClery Monger, II was born on December 3, 1945, to the late Alfred M. Monger I and Helen Cormier Monger. He was an accomplished craftsman who lived a life marked by hard work, resilience, and unwavering dedication to his country and his loved ones.
Alfred was not only a skilled carpenter and cabinet maker, but he also co-owned Cajun Lumber Company, Inc. in Jennings, Louisiana, where his craftsmanship and attention to detail earned him the respect and admiration of his peers and community. After a fruitful career that showcased his talents, he retired as a truck driver, always eager to ensure the safety and satisfaction of those he served.
His journey was defined by a spirit of service, having honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps. During his time, he completed two tours in Vietnam, where he bravely faced challenges that few can comprehend. His dedication to his country earned him numerous accolades, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, and the Rifle Expert Badge. Alfred’s military service instilled in him the values of commitment, honor, and courage, which he carried throughout his life.
Mr. Monger is survived by his lifelong partner, Judy Peltier Bernard; and her children, Scot Bernard, Pamela Broussard, Wanda Bernard (Kern Nunez), and Debra Zotto (Bill); step-grandchildren, Harmony Marrero (Brian), Cline Broussard, Devin Nunez, Zane Zotto, and Zealand Zotto; a brother, Karl Monger; and a daughter, Tara Monger.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
As we reflect on the life of Alfred, we celebrate a man who embodied the essence of hard work, service, and love. His spirit will forever remain in our hearts. May he rest in peace.
