Leonville - Funeral services will be held at 11 a .m., on Saturday, January 29, 2011, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Leonville, for Aline Chenier Mallet, 84, who passed away on Monday, January 24, 2011 at Opelousas General Hospital. Interment will follow at St. Leo the Great Cemetery. Msgr. Paul Metrejean will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Shirley Sonnier and Lydia Jones. Gift Bearers will be Brandy Shereast Mallet and Myra Lovenia Mallet. Survivors include four sons, Albert Mallet (Linda) of Killeen, TX, Robert Mallet, Jr. ;(Caroline) of Port Barre, Alton Mallet of Opelousas, and Donovain Mallet, Sr. (Georgia) of Port Barre; two daughters, Coretha Gray (Richard) of Lake Charles and Julia Mallet of Opelousas; two sisters, Helen Levier of Port Barre and Eula Mae Sylvester of Opelousas; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Mallet, Sr.; a son, Peter Mallet; her parents, Maurice and Cora Smith Chenier; four sisters, Laura Zachary, Ruby Ledee, Mary Lorena Guidry, and Theresa Compton; a brother Joseph Chenier, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Louisiana DeClouette and Leonce Smith; and paternal grandparents, Elzina Lazard and Odeleon Chenier. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Arnaudville from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and continue on Saturday at 8 a .m. until 10:15 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Friday. Pallbearers will be Albert Mallet, Donovain Mallet, Sr., Donovain Mallet, Jr., Alton Mallet, Robert Mallet, Jr., Patrick Kent Tolliver, and Cleveland Paul Tolliver.
