Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m., on Monday, May 16, 2011 , at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge , for Allen James Hayes, 50, who died on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 in Texas . Father Chanh Nguyen will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Tori Hayes and Nicholas Lyons. Gift Bearers will be Lauren Hayes, Annie Lyons, Samuel Lyons, Gage Ferrill, Tristen Hayes, and Kaiton Hayes. Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum No. 2 in Breaux Bridge . Allen was married to the love of his life, the former Tammy Daigle, for 31 years. He was a parisioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, where he served as a C.C.D. Teacher and was a 3rd Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. An avid motorcyclist who enjoyed riding his bike, Allen served as the president and state director of Star Touring & Riding Chapter 217, and was a member of the L.A.B.U. Umpire Association. Allen was very supportive in various charitable organizations, but was most especially involved with 'Feed the Children,' 'Toys for Tots' and 'Toys to Recovery' programs. In his free time he enjoyed baseball, going fishing, camping, and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his son, Starbuck Hayes of Breaux Bridge ; three brothers, Steven John and his wife, Mary Cormier Hayes, Randy Lee and his wife, Dene Domingue Hayes, and Jason Dale and his wife, Andrea Dor Hayes, all of Breaux Bridge ; and two grandchildren, Gage Ferrill and Kaiton Hayes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Tammy Daigle Hayes; and his parents, John and Mabel 'Mae-Mae' Stelly Hayes. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Sunday from 9 a .m. until 10 p.m. and continue on Monday at 7 a .m. until 1:15 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
