Ametile, the cherished daughter of Alexious Stelly and Azema Bergeron Stelly, was born in Arnaudville and spent her formative years in Bayou Portage before marrying and settling in the warm community of Poche Bridge.
Ametile devoted her life to her family and embraced the joys of homemaking with a passion. She found immense happiness in farming, growing an abundance of vegetables and fruits, tending to her flower gardens, and raising various livestock, including flocks of chickens and ducks. Her talents extended to sewing, where she lovingly crafted pillows from feathers of her chickens and prepared large, hearty meals for family gatherings during the holidays.
Ametile had a vibrant spirit, relishing the rhythm of life through dance and the lilting sounds of French music. She delighted in sharing stories of her youth, reminiscing about a time before electricity and running water, and the adventures of traveling from Arnaudville to Lafayette by horse and buggy.
A proud parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Ametile was an active member of the Altar Society in both Breaux Bridge and Henderson. Her faith blossomed through daily rosary prayers, a testament to her deep spirituality and devotion.
She is survived by her children, Nelson (Gloria) Miller, Dieu Donne Miller, Jr., Carrol Miller, Beverly Lanclos, and Sharon (Don) Guidry; brother, Wilson Stelly; sister, Rose Marie S. (Stanley) Douet; sister-in-law, Joyce Stelly; 20 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 29 great-great grandchildren; 2 great-great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
