New Iberia - A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, May 23, 2022, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Amez Menard Derouen, 95, who passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022, at Consolata Nursing Home.
Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 12:30 pm until 3:00 pm on Monday.
A rosary, led by the Men's Rosary Group, will be prayed at 1:00 pm on Monday.
Amez Menard Derouen was born in Vermilion Parish on September 22, 1926 to the late Ferdinand and Edmae Menard, and she worked in sales at Lowe's, West Bros. and Evangeline Bread. She was an excellent cook, and enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and working in her yard. She loved all of her pets, and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed.
Mrs. Derouen is survived by a daughter, Sandra Romero (Raymond) of New Iberia; a son, Jimmy Romero of St. Martinville; a sister, Hilda Viator of New Iberia; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a granddaughter that she raised, Shelley LaSalle of Lafayette.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Easton Derouen; a son, Gerald Derouen; two sisters, Nora Broussard and Hazel Dugas; daughter-in-law, Lovell Vincent Romero; and a grandson, Chad Romero.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Romero, Raymond Romero, Ray Romero, Kendall Romero, Mel Romero, and Logan Romero.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the rehab department at Consolata Nursing Home, especially Johanna Landry and Geri Segura, for extraordinary care.
