Ann Merlynn Champagne

Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge for Ann Merlynn Champagne, 100, who passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, in Breaux Bridge.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Friday from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm. It will continue on Saturday from 8:00 am until the time of service, at 2:00 pm.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Friday evening by Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert.

Father Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Service. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2.

Ann spent much of her career as a clerk serving the customers at Simon's General Store for over 17 years. She approached each day with joy and affection for those who came through the doors of the store.

One of Ann's proudest accomplishments was being the first female forklift operator at the Port of Iberia in 1979 - a feat that paved the way for other women to follow in her footsteps. As a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church, she lived her faith every day with kindness toward others and love for God.

She had hobbies that she loved dearly, including gardening, spending time outside in her yard and enjoying a cup of coffee with her friends. In addition, Ann loved traveling and going to new places. She shared many adventures throughout her lifetime.

She is survived by her son, Alvin Mouton; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Mouton; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her son, Kerry Mouton; daughter and son-in-law, Joslyne and Simon Marks; daughter and son-in-law, Genevieve and Rodney Landry; parents, Eraste Champagne, Jr. and Theodora Thibodeaux Champagne; and numerous siblings.
