Annie Theriot

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church honoring the life of Annie Theriot, 88, who passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Carpenter House. 

A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM. 

A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM on Monday. 

Rev. Jason Vidrine will officiate at the Funeral Mass, and concelebrant will be Rev. Michael Champagne. Readers will be Trey Cormier and Cortney Haven. 

Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery. 

Annie was a well-known resident of St. Martinville who worked as a bookkeeper in gift and flower shops from the time she finished school until she moved to St. Gabriel Apartments where she was the Apartment Mgr. until her retirement at the age of 86.

Annie was a devout Catholic exemplifying her steadfast commitment through active participation in her parish community. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Come Lord Jesus, St. Theresa Center, and several local rosary groups. She also contributed financially to The Padre Pio Foundation and other Catholic endeavors. Annie found joy in her daily Mass and in leading the rosary prior to Mass, inspiring those around her with her unwavering faith and love for God.

She enjoyed moments of leisure, which included evenings at the casino, playing Pokeno with friends and traveling to places that brought her joy. She also enjoyed reading and family gatherings where her rice dressing was expected. Annie's vibrant spirit, zest for life, and spicey, matter-of-fact attitude will be missed by all who knew her.

In reflecting on Annie's life, we remember a woman whose warmth welcomed all, whose kindness touched countless lives, and whose faith in God remained steadfast throughout her journey. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will continue to celebrate the values she embodied throughout her life.

She is survived by 4 loving cousins whom she considered her children: Gayle D. (Louis) Gaudet, Kenneth Douet, Dianne Douet, Toni D. (Don) Segura (her Godchild) and her niece, Vee Bernis Cazelot, three other Godchildren, Shannon V. Benoit, Taylor Benoit, and Richard Howes, along with sisters, Joyce (Calvin) Melancon and Marion (Sidney) Venable.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Angelle Douet Theriot; brothers, W. J. Theriot, Jr., Lester Theriot, and baby Kenneth Theriot; and her sisters, Aimee Miller and Jean Rae Bernis. 

Pallbearers will be Blaine Benoit, Kyle Theriot, Taylor Benoit, Gordon Cazelot, Chad Melancon, and Smokie Miller.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Douet, Richard Howes, Lee Douet, Stormie Champagne, Lance Champagne, and Lucas Venable.
