Anthony "Ty-Yo" Sigue

Grand Marais - Arrangements are pending for Anthony Larry “Ty-Yo” Sigue, 69 who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Maison Teche Nursing Home, surrounded by his loved ones.

Anthony, affectionately known as “Tony” and “Ty-Yo,” was born on October 11, 1956, in Rochester, New York, to Donald Sigue and Ella Vallot Sigue. After a brief time in New York, his family relocated to Grand Marais, Louisiana, where he would spend the remainder of his life. He was the oldest of four children, growing up alongside his two younger brothers and baby sister.

From an early age, Tony had a competitive spirit and a love for running. During his high school years at New Iberia Senior High School, he became a standout track athlete, breaking numerous records in long-distance running, relay, and hurdles. His determination and resilience back then, would come to characterize so much of his life.

Tony worked on his family’s sugarcane farm and later spent years driving 18-wheelers. Along the way, he welcomed two beautiful daughters, Channell and Kallye, whom he loved deeply. He later became a grandfather to four grandchildren and a proud great-grandfather to one great-grandson.

Tony was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys and LSU Tigers fan, proudly sporting their team gear whenever he could. His grandchildren will especially remember his signature Dallas Cowboys hat and white alligator boots — a look that they knew as “Pop Tony.”

He enjoyed watching old Westerns, listening to zydeco music, attending trail rides as a member of “The Grand Marais Trail Riders,” enjoying a good home-cooked meal, and most importantly, spending time with the people he loved. His nickname, “Ty-Yo” was a nickname that translated to “hungry dog,” which fit for his love of food.

Tony had a special love for Mardi Gras and will be remembered for his “King Zulu” costume.

Above all, Tony will be remembered for the life he lived, the people he loved, and the memories he created. His journey was filled with triumphs, challenges, perseverance, and moments that will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughters, Channell Ann Sigue and Kallye Denise Sigue; his four grandchildren, Brailyn Michelle Jolivette, Meghan Elise Jolivette, Jordan Thomas DeRouen, and Kamila Jaci Sigue; and his great-grandson, Julian Bradley Arceneaux.

He is also survived by his brother, John Craig Sigue (Amarillis); his sister, Pamela Sigue Moon; along with his aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and countless friends who were blessed to know and love him.

Tony was preceded in death by his mother, Ella Vallot Sigue; his father, Anthony Donald Sigue; his brother, Stephen Mark Sigue; and his grandparents, Ella Boudreaux Vallot, Raphael Vallot Sr., Agnes Olivier Sigue, and Joseph Sigue Sr.

Honorary Pallbearers are Jordan DeRouen, Christopher Sigue, Dylan Sigue, Justin Sigue, Aron Sigue, and Darius Moon.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to everyone who has surrounded them with love, prayers, support, phone calls, comforting words, and acts of kindness during this difficult time.

A very special thank you is extended to the staff of Maison Teche Nursing Home, Hospice of Acadiana, and Pellerin Funeral Home for the care, compassion, and support shown to Tony and his family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist his daughters with funeral expenses. The family sincerely appreciates every prayer, gesture of kindness, and expression of love offered during this difficult time.

Though his race has finally come to an end, the memories he created and the love he gave will continue to live on through every generation that carries his name.
