Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, February 7, 2026, at St. Bernard Catholic Church honoring the life of Bannet Escoyne, 92, who passed away on February 1, 2026, in Palestine, Texas.
A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge on Friday from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Saturday, from 7:00 AM to 11:30 AM
A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM on Friday.
Rev. Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Courtney Escoyne and Michelle LeGrand.
Burial will follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum - No. 2.
Born on October 9, 1933, in St. Martinville, Louisiana, Bannet lived a full and remarkable life, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Bannet proudly served his country in the Louisiana National Guard from July 17, 1951 to September 19,1956. Then active duty in the United States Air Force from September 20, 1956, until his retirement August 31, 1979, for 28 years total service. After his military career he worked first as Airport Security at Lafayette Regional Airport, then as a TV & VCR Repairman.
An active member of his community, Bannet served as a Eucharistic Minister and an Usher at St. Bernard Catholic Church, and he was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus. His faith and commitment to service were evident in everything he did.
He didn't just enjoy bowling; he lived and breathed it for decades! He and Ann were in multiple bowling leagues for over 50 years and participated in bowling tournaments all over the country. He enjoyed tending to his yard, and watching sports, often bringing joy and laughter to those around him. He had a special place in his heart for family and friends, emphasizing the importance of togetherness and support.
He is survived by his wife, Ann L. Escoyne; son, Tony (Tina) Escoyne; daughters, Kathy (Tony) LaCombe and Karen (Vernon) Tanner; grandchildren, Stephanie (Bryan) Fetsch, Michael (Christian) Wiley, Jon (Bethany) Tanner, Daniel (Erin) Tanner, David (Alex) Tanner, Courtney Escoyne, Lesley LaCombe, and Thomas LaCombe; and his 19 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Jeanne Escoyne; brothers, Bernard and Lawrence Escoyne; sisters, Theresa Lasseigne, Hazel McCorkle, Ethel Leonard and Gloria Daspit.
Pallbearers will be Jon Tanner, David Tanner, Daniel Tanner, Michael Wiley, Thomas LaCombe, and Nathan Crouch.
Bannet Escoyne will be deeply missed, but his spirit will always live on in the hearts of his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
