St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Belva F. Anthony, 92, who passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
A visitation will take place at Notre Dame Catholic Church on Saturday from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 AM on Saturday.
Rev. Marvin Gyasie, S.V.D. will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Francelle Anthony-Broussard, Michelle Bourda and Dimitricia Dauphine-Batiste. Gift bearers will be Kyla Dauphine, Deandra Sam, Ashley Anthony and Kayla Anthony.
Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery.
Belva was born on July 5, 1932, in St. Martinville. Belva pursued her passion for teaching, earning a Bachelor's Degree from Xavier University to become a dedicated educator shaping the minds of the future generations. Her commitment to the education industry left a lasting impact on all those she taught, inspiring countless individuals along the way. Belva was a member of the Legion of Mary, Notre Dame Prayer Group and a proud foster grandparent. Belva loved praying the rosary and teaching it to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Belva had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need. She will be sadly missed by all those that loved and knew her.
Belva is survived by her children, Wanda Anthony, Josephine Mallery (Calvin), Patricia Anthony, Roland Anthony, Travis Anthony, Tildon Anthony and Janella Bourda; brother, Edward Martin (Joyce) Filer; daughter-in-law, Leanna Anthony; 20 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren; and host of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, close family, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Anthony; sons, Kevin Anthony and Jody Anthony Sr.; grandchildren, Rochelle Anthony, Daniel and Danielle Dauphine; parents, Adam and Mary Skipper Filer; daughter-in-law, Margaret Anthony; sisters, Rita Chretien, Rena Mae Batiste, Theresa Fontenette, Mary Polite and Melva Louis; and her brothers, Adam Filer, Jr. and Eddie Filer, Sr.
Pallbearers will be Lyndon Anthony, Marcus Dauphine, Michael Bourda Jr., Kevin Mallery, Jordy Anthony, Nakavin Batiste, Daniel Marshall, Jr. and Darren Countee.
Honorary pallbearers will be Travis Anthony, Roland Anthony. Tildon Anthony, Jody Anthony Jr., Jakel Dauphine, Kendell Chevalier, Kobe Anthony, Martin Filer, Marlon Bourda, Calvin Mallery, Wilfred “Fred” Dauphine, Nathaniel Batiste, Ronald Drake, Marvin Youman, Dudley Simon, Carter Joseph Jr., Clifford Anthony, and Cody Anthony.
