Breaux Bridge A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, May 9, 2014, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in Breaux Bridge, for Bernice Rees Nick, 87, who passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2014. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9:00 am until 10:45 am on Friday. Deacon Ken Sonnier will officiate at the Memorial Service. Inurnment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge. Mrs. Nick was a graduate of Breaux Bridge High School and was the Valedictorian of her class. She went on to pursue a career in teaching and taught Science for 21 years, of which 19 of those years were at Abramson High School. She was a member of the Louisiana Teachers Association, Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. Post 2880, and the Diamondhead Boaters Association. She is survived by four sons, Clarence B. Nick, and wife, Barbara, of North Carolina, Gregory D. Nick and wife, Peggy, of Lafayette; Stephen Nick and wife, Elizabeth, of Melbourne, Australia, and Dr. Brent G. Nick and wife, Lynn, of Harvey; her daughter, Mary Carmen Black and husband, Chip, of Baton Rouge; her sister, Ophelia "Fe Fe" Risley of Metairie; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Nick, Jr.; her parents, Edwin and Elmina Harry Rees; two sisters, Elaine Thomas and Helen Fain; and her brother, Edwin Rees.
