Bertha Rose Guidry

Cecilia, Louisiana - Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 9, 2026, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia honoring the life of Bertha Rose Guidry, who passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Cornerstone at the Ranch.

A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Pastor Jeff Ables will officiate at the funeral service. Her Eulogy will be given by her son Aaron Guidry. Music will be provided by Laura Huval.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Jeremy Guidry, Neal Guidry, Luke Guidry, Benjamin Guidry, Adam Guidry and Gabriel Pecot. 

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who died at the age of 84.

Bertha Rose Bergeron Guidry will be remembered as a resilient and loving woman whose life was defined by her unwavering devotion to her family. In her younger years, she worked as a waitress at Robin's Restaurant, then Pat's in Henderson. It seems as though everyone knew Bertha.

Her talents as a cook helped her in raising four boys, often feeding a team of boys who gathered at the Guidry house for football.

Bertha cherished the joy and companionship that she shared with her sisters-in-law within her family. Bertha showed love by doing-cooking, cleaning and caring for her mother and many of her siblings.

Her life was touched by tragedy with the loss of her son, Barry, and her husband, Alvin (A.J.), in 2017 and 2018, less than two months apart; a sorrow she bore with quiet strength.

Later in life she experienced great joy and community at The Blake in Lafayette. Despite difficult health challenges, Bertha never complained. Once again, in life and in death she showed resilience and strength.

Bertha is survived by three sons: Lonnie Guidry (Donna Guidry), Kevin Guidry (Scarlett Guidry), Aaron Guidry (Tracey Guidry). Eleven grandchildren: Jeremy Guidry, Lindsey Pecot (Brad), Natalie Guidry, Hannah Guidry, Blair Guidry, Neal Guidry, Dalane Coe (Jeremy), Luke Guidry (Katy), Benjamin Guidry, Mary Smith (Derek) and Adam Guidry; nine great grandchildren; Gabriel Pecot, Jude Pecot, Tate Pecot, Jacob Pecot, Julian Pecot, Lincoln Stricklin, Patrick Gaine, Sullivan Gaine and Tucker Coe. She is also survived by one brother, Anthony Bergeron (Doris).

Bertha is preceded in death by her parents, Gaston Bergeron, Sr. and Corrine Bergeron; and her siblings, Ruby Campbell, Gaston Bergeron, Jr., Mary Delaughter, Dela Mae Bourque, Edwin Bergeron and Clement Bergeron.

The family wishes to thank the staff at The Blake; the nurses and caregivers at Cornerstone at the Ranch and to Hope Hospice for their compassionate and professional care that they provided.

Bertha knew Jesus Christ as her savior and we know that she is with Him, eternal.
