Bonnie H. Schexnailder

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for Bonnie "Naomi" Huval Schexnailder, 88 of Lafayette, Louisiana, who passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, following a long battle with heart disease.

A visitation will be held at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. It will continue on Saturday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.

A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Friday evening.

Monsignor Douglas Courville will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Gabbi LeMaire and Sam Schexnailder. Gift bearers will be Elleanor Cormier and Trent Caram.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.

Bonnie was born on September 19, 1937, in Cecilia, Louisiana to Sanders "Shank" Huval and Julia Dupuis Huval. She attended public school in Cecilia before continuing studies at SLI from 1955-1957.

Bonnie spent her childhood in Cecilia with her siblings and close-knit cousins and in Lafayette with special girlfriends. She met the love of her life, Frank J. Schexnailder and the couple was married in 1958. They moved into the family home in Grand Anse in 1967 where they raised their children, entertained lots of family and friends and always kept an open door. Bonnie, Frank and their four children spent many family vacations at the beach in Grand Isle, snow-skiing or at their camp in Toledo Bend.

She is survived by her children, Frank Schexnailder, Jr. (Christine), Mitch Schexnailder (Robbie), Joy Caram (Hector) and Annie Cormier (Mel); brother, David "Buddy" Huval (Dixie), Carol Saucier (Bob) and Bert Huval (Catherine); sister and brothers-in-law, Cindy Soignier (Kenneth), Maurice "Jun" Schexnailder (Norma), Beverly Schexnailder and Curtis Knott; grandchildren, Gabrielle S. LeMaire (Bruce), Benjamin Schexnailder, William Schexnailder, Sam Schexnailder, Keller Schexnailder, Trent Caram, Zachary Cormier (Hailea) and Elleanor Cormier; and great-grandchild, Cooper Cormier.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Schexnailder; parents, Shank and Julia Huval; and grandparents, AJ Dupuis and Naomi Willis Dupuis.

Pallbearers will be Sam Schexnailder, Keller Schexnailder, Zachary Cormier, Trent Caram, William Schexnailder, Benjamin Schexnailder and Bruce LeMaire.

Honorary Pallbearers will be David and Mark Huval, Brooke and Grant Saucier and Phillip and Sidney Huval.

The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers that took such great care of her, especially Lisa Huval and Alberta Rudd, the therapists, aids and nurses at Cornerstone and the wonderful care, guidance and love of Hope Hospice. Thank you!
