New Iberia - Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM , Monday, April 30, 2012 , at First United Methodist Church in New Iberia , for Byron L. Kern, 63, who died Friday, April 27, 2012 in New Iberia . Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery at a later date. Rev. Scott Bullock will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd , in New Iberia . Visitation will continue Monday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM . Born on February 13, 1949 , Mr. Kern was a native of New Iberia . A graduate of New Iberia Senior High, he worked for Halliburton for over 30 years. He enjoyed LSU Football, LSU Baseball, attending the Methodist Mens Bible Study, Friday night dinners with the family, and especially playing with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Cindy Chauvin Kern of New Iberia; sons, Scotty Kern and wife Ti of Centerville, GA, Louis Kern and wife Jennifer of Carencro, Joseph Kern of Lafayette; daughter, Sammie Kern Jamieson and husband Raymond of Brewton, Alabama; step son, Shane Thibodeaux and wife Hope of Lafayette; step daughter, Shawn Thibodeaux Leach and husband Jim of New Iberia; brothers, Leonard Kern and wife Eloise of New Iberia, Huey Kern and wife Faye of New Iberia, Charles Kern and wife Harriet of Patterson; sisters, Olive DeBlanc and husband Fred of New Iberia, Cathy Hubbard and husband Ronald of Lydia; mother-in-law, Betty Feller of New Iberia; 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Joseph Kern and Jeanne Leonard Kern; sisters, Betty Dahman, Muriel Thompson; brother, Jerome Kern. Pallbearers will be Shane Thibodeaux, Louis Kern, Joseph Kern, John Chauvin, Scotty Kern, and Jerry Chauvin. Honorary pallbearers include Sammie Kern Jamieson and Shawn Thibodeaux Leach. The family would like to give special thanks to Judith, and to Hospice of Acadiana for their extra ordinary care and compassion.
