New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia, for Caesar Francis Comeaux, 88, who passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2014.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3:30 pm until 9:00 pm on Friday and continue on Saturday at 8 am until 9:30 am, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be recited at 7 pm on Friday.
Reverend Mark Derise will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Connie Comeaux and Vanessa Comeaux. Gift Bearers will be his grandchildren. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia.
Mr. Comeaux was a veteran of World War II, honorably serving his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, V.F.W. Post 1982 Honor Guard, American Legion, and the Woodmen of the World.
Caesar was a school bus driver for 20 years. He was actively involved in the needs and progress of his community for many years. He served on the Iberia Parish Council and was dedicated to serving the people of Iberia Parish for over 30 years. Caesar was a member of the Iberia Development Foundation, the Council on Aging, and the Iberia Chamber of Commerce, in which he was the proud recipient of the Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Civic Service Award in 2008. He was as equally involved with the youth of Iberia Parish and was one of the founding members of the New Iberia Little League.
A devout Catholic, Caesar was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, where he served as an Usher for many years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his friend and companion, Mabel Onellion of New Iberia; five sons, Chris Comeaux of New Iberia, Phil Comeaux of Gretna, Audie Comeaux and wife, Connie, of New Iberia, Troy Comeaux and wife, Vanessa, of New Iberia, and Tracy Comeaux and wife, Patti, of Lafayette; his brother, Jimmy Comeaux and wife, Barbara, of New Iberia; ten grandchildren, Skylar Comeaux, Jansey Comeaux, Seth Comeaux, Shelley Vance, Alaina Comeaux, Cameron Comeaux, Spencer Comeaux, Brooke Comeaux, Blair Comeaux, and Brittni Bergeron; eight great grandchildren, Joshua Brodie Vance, Oliver Owen Vance, Caitlyn Comeaux, Caroline Comeaux, Lilly Aubree Casiano, Gresham Hargett, Ella Grace Comeaux, and Cohen Michael Comeaux; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Yvonne Duplantis Comeaux; his parents, Semar and Elia Gary Comeaux; and his siblings, Mildred Norris, Gussie Labiche Fremin, Verna Mae Boudreaux, Rita Bernis, Noemie Louviere, Mabel Comeaux, Preston Comeaux, Homer Comeaux, Carrol Magoo Comeaux, and Robert Comeaux.
Pallbearers will be Chris Comeaux, Phil Comeaux, Audie Comeaux, Troy Comeaux, Tracy Comeaux, Skylar Comeaux, Spencer Comeaux, and Cameron Comeaux.
Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Jackson, Joe LeBlanc, Lonest Comeaux, and Pierre Schwing, Sr.
