A native and resident of New Iberia, Calvin James Langla was born on November 13, 1950, and worked as a carpenter his entire life.
Calvin enjoyed simple pleasures like fishing, crabbing, and hunting with his son, Brad. He found comfort in nature and the thrill of shared adventures, always eager to make those moments special. Pop was also an enthusiastic billiards player in a family pool league, bonding with all of his children through laughter and friendly competition. His vibrant personality was infectious; he was a true clown at heart, someone who could easily bring a smile and laughter into any gathering.
What Calvin cherished most was his large family. With nine children, 29 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous siblings, he took pride in every relationship he had with family. The warmth of family gatherings filled his life with meaning. He lived life to the fullest and will be deeply missed.
Mr. Langla is survived by his loving wife, Lavonne LeBlanc Langla; children, Shane Langla (Kim), Scotty Maturin (Rachel), Ryan Maturin (Faith), Tonya Lucas, Brad Langla (Bethany), Keegan Guillory (Danielle), Chrisian Riegger (Courtney), and Lanie Migues (Gage); 29 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his biological parents, Janice Walker and Stanley LeBlanc; adoptive parents, Henrietta and John Langla; son-in-law, Dickie Lucas; siblings, Gayle Cote, Reynold LeBlanc, Tommy Walker, and Morris Charpentier, Sr.; nephew, Morris Charpentier III; granddaughters, Navaeh Blanchard and Penelope Guillory; and his mother and father-in-law, Murvin and Lilly LeBlanc.
Pallbearers will be Cayton Maturin, Tallon Maturin, Ryan Maturin, Scotty Galtier, Brad Langla Jr., and Kamryn Maturin.
Honorary pallbearers are Brady Lucas, Brad Langla, Scotty Maturin, Gage Migues, Tonya Lucas, and Keegan Guillory.
Calvin leaves behind a world more colorful than he found it. He will remain in our hearts forever. May he rest in peace.
