St. Martinville- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 12, 2026 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church honoring the life of Calvin J. Landry, 84, who passed away on March 9, 2026 at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.
A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville on Thursday from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 AM on Thursday.
Rev. Bill Melancon will officiate at the funeral mass. Readers will be Bryanna Breaux and Stacy Romero Babineaux.
As per Calvin's wishes, a cremation will follow and a burial will take place at a later date.
Born on May 6, 1941, in St. Martinville, Calvin was a lifelong resident of St Martinville, where he built a vibrant life filled with meaningful connections and cherished memories.
Calvin was a self-employed entrepreneur, known for his dedication to Landry's Pepper Co. He also owned a popular bar, Heads or Tails, in Lafayette, where he became a fixture in the community, welcoming everyone who walked through the door. Calvin had a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life; he truly didn't know a stranger. His passion for woodworking, cooking, and hunting reflected his love for the outdoors and his creativity. He was a great pool player, and often shared his love for the game with friends.
Calvin was known for his unique tradition of giving out guardian angel pins to many he met, symbolizing his belief in uplifting others and providing a sense of comfort. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
He is survived by his children, Blake Landry (Samantha) and Jewel Hurst (John-David) ; grandchildren, Lake Menard and Sebastian Landry; and his siblings, Alfred Landry, Jr. (Debbie), Dolores Romero and Elaine Breaux.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Landry, Sr. and Lucille Babin Landry; brother, Russell Landry; brothers-in-law, Ward Breaux and Russell "Doc" Romero.
Pallbearers will be Blake Landry, Alfred Landry, Jr., Lake Menard, Bronson Breaux, Corey Louviere, and Tommy Romero.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dickie Martin, Becket Breaux, Brannon Breaux, Brock Romero, Russ Romero and Francis "Bose" Dupuis.
