Carl John Huval

Carl John Huval, age 87, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 16, 2020 at the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings, Louisiana with loved ones by his side. Services will not be held due to current social distancing requirements. A private burial will take place at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Carl was born on October 15, 1932 in Cecilia, Louisiana. He was valedictorian of his Cecilia High School Class of 1950 before attending the Southwest Louisiana Institute (University of Southwestern Louisiana) followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he received a Master of Science in Civil Engineering in 1961. Carl raised his family in Vicksburg, Mississippi where he enjoyed a long career as a Hydraulics Engineer with the Army Corp of Engineers at the Waterways Experiment Station. Carl loved to duck hunt with his brothers, spend time with his grandchildren, and he had a passion for family genealogy and working with a shovel in his backyard. Upon retirement, Carl and his wife, Joan, moved back to Louisiana to spend their final years surrounded by family in Cecilia. Carl was survived by his daughter, Cleo Huval-Moore and her husband Steve of Colorado; his son, Randy Clark and his wife Nanette of Mississippi; his sister, Dorothy Blanchard and her husband Vernon; one brother, Teddy Huval; three grandchildren, Chelsea Moore and her fiancé Kienen Morris of Florida; Cameron Clark and Briana Clark of Texas; Tarina Clark of Oklahoma; in addition to many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Joan Huval; his son, James Paul Clark; his parents, Noe’ Huval and Ada Angelle Huval; his sister, Adele Angelle; and four brothers, James, Eric, Earl, and Jack Huval. Special appreciation is extended to Rosalind Hill and the entire staff at the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
