A resident of New Iberia, Carol Gerger Fishburn was born in Mansfield, Ohio on September 29, 1944, to the late Joseph Stephen Gerger and Thelma Sue Caraboa. She cherished life in all its facets, making lasting memories that touched those around her.
Her career as a secretary in the construction and development sector was marked by dedication and meticulousness, with Carol retiring from Forum Group.
A longtime member of Highland Baptist Church, Carol faithfully served in various capacities. She recently co-chaired the church cookbook committee, lovingly including many treasured family recipes. She also participated in the monthly Ladies Ministries and encouraged attendants with love and fellowship. Her warm presence and genuine kindness were felt by all, creating bonds that extended far beyond the church walls.
Carol found joy in the small moments, including being an enthusiastic participant in a domino club called "The Dots," which she helped establish in 2011. Every month, six women gathered to play dominoes, creating a space filled with laughter, camaraderie, and the sharing of life's ups and downs. Carol's quick wit and great sense of humor made her a cherished friend within this circle.
Fashionably dressed, Carol took pride in her appearance, always presenting herself with grace and style. She was not only a meticulous recordkeeper but also an avid shopper, relishing each outing as a little adventure. She was an inspiration to many and will be deeply missed.
Mrs. Fishburn is survived by two step-sons, David Fishburn (Jennifer) of Port Allen, LA, and Wayne Fishburn (Angie) of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Joseph Fishburn, William Fishburn, Samuel Fishburn, Laurel Fishburn, Heather Fishburn (Sarah), Danielle Fishburn, and Zack Fishburn; great granddaughter, Beatrice; and beloved dog, JJ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Gary Bryan Fishburn; and her first husband, Specialist James Robert Warren, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Highland Baptist Church, 607 Victory Dr., New Iberia, LA 70563.
A steadfast friend and a devout believer, Carol stood firm in her friendships and her faith in God. May she rest in peace.
