Breaux Bridge, Louisiana - A Celebration of life will be held at Teche Baptist Church on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 11:00 am, for Carol Jean Johnson, who passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.
Carol Jean (called CJ in her younger years and Na Na in her later years) was born to Mary Francis Hull and Russell Woods on February 2nd 1946, in Braymer, Missouri. She had a zest for life and was never shy in sharing her opinions. Carol met the love of her life Gary Wayne Johnson 50 years ago and have been together ever since. Carol had 6 children. She and Gary raised two of them, Malissa and Jerry. They were blessed with 50 years together before she entered Paradise on July 5th 2026.
Carol called many places home before that, but spent the best years of her life on earth in Louisiana between Denham Springs and Breaux Bridge. Carol served the Denham Springs community as a police dispatcher for a short time. She appreciated spending time outdoors, especially while "working" in her flower beds (directing Gary where to put the plants) and relaxing on the front porch swing. Carol was also very fond of beaches; she particularly enjoyed a long stay at a certain Carolina beach house, and loved cruising around Grand Isle, LA in her golf cart. No matter where she was, the most important people to Carol were her husband, kids, and grandkids. Best of all Carol was a born again Christian who loved the lord and we know that she is in heaven with him now.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Russell, her maternal grandparents Royd and Claudine Hull; her daughter, Patti Ann Chapman; her brother, Allen Dean Hallam; and many beloved pets.
She is survived by her husband, Gary; children, Teresa, Gary Dewayne, Mary, Malissa, and Jerry Dean "Jay"; grandchildren, Bobby Gene, Christina, Chassidy, Raeann, Ian, Jonah, Gracie, and Noah; great-grandchild, Blakelyn "Bacon" (and one on the way); sister, Debra Sue; brothers, Fred and Jackie; along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Psalm 139:9-10
"9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, 10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast."
