St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 2, 2026 at 11:00 am on Monday, February 2, 2026, honoring the life of Carrol Blanchard Russo, 83, who passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her family.

A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville on Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 3:30 pm until 9:00 pm. It will continue on Monday morning from 8:00 am until 10:30 am.

A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Sunday evening.

Father Bill Melancon will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Pam Blanchet and Kenneth Dupuis.

Burial will follow at a later date.

Born on September 30, 1942, in Catahoula, Louisiana, Carrol was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and a cherished member of her community.

For 17 years, Carrol served as the Director of Religious Education at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, where she touched the lives of many through her unwavering faith and dedication to nurturing the spiritual growth of her community. As the Director of Tourism for the City of St. Martinville, she showcased her love for her town, helping to elevate its charm and inviting others to enjoy its beauty. Carrol's passion for community involvement extended to her time with the Woodmen of the World and the Main Street Association, where she played an instrumental role in organizing the beloved Cornucopia Ball for many years.

In her earlier years, Carrol worked as an LPN at the St. Martin Infirmary and later opened her heart and home to little ones through her in-home daycare. She possessed a zest for life that was reflected in her love for travel, her adventurous spirit leading her to create lasting memories with family and friends on many trips. Carrol enjoyed leisurely moments playing PokenoBourre', and Bingo, and she loved trying new foods at new restaurants.

Carrol cherished her family above all else, and her greatest joys came from the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her unwavering love and support were the foundation of a family that will carry her memory forward in their hearts.

She is survived by her son, Jonathan Russo (Melanie); daughter, Jennifer Russo (Kyric); daughter-in-law, Michelle Russo; brothers, Roy Blanchard (Annie) and Wilmer "Jun" Blanchard, Jr.; sister, Loula Dunlap (Terry); grandchildren, Heather McLeish (David), Casey Russo, Samantha Wyatt (Curry), Bastian Russo (Aimee), Kirsten Russo (Paul), Skye Russo (Josh), Connor Russo, Kylee Mitchell (Tre), Andon Russo and Courtnie Mitchell; and great-grandchildren, Madison, Emily, Rylan, Elise, Ivy, Windy, Kami, Kyler and one on the way.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Russo, Sr.; sons, Leon "LeeLee" Russo, Jr. and Teddy Russo; daughter, Windy Wyatt; grandson, Johnny Ray Wyatt; parents, Wilmer Blanchard, Sr. and May Blanchard; sisters, Sonja Blanchard, Louise Bergeron, Catherine Patin, Beulah Punch, Della Dupuis and Ida Troutman; and brother, Camille Blanchard.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Russo, Kyric Mitchell, Andon Russo, Bastian Russo, Camille Punch and Paul Martin.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Tre Wiltz and Connor Russo.

Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
