Catahoula - Funeral services will be held at 11 a .m., on Monday, December 27, 2010, at St. Rita Catholic Church in Catahoula, for Carroll Joseph Boutte, 78, who passed away on Friday , December 24, 2010 at Lafayette General Medical Center . Entombment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Mausoleum in Catahoula. Msgr. J. Douglas Courville will conduct the services. Readers will be Chad Cormier and Christian Boutte. Gift Bearers will be Jacie and Kylie Boutte and Mattie Hebert. Carroll enjoyed life and his work was his passion. As a young adult he was known as an individual with many talents. Such as, boxing, welding, a jockey and owned and operated one of the first cane cutters in the surrounding area. All of these talents were recognized by all who knew and loved him. His most recent passion was horse racing and managing Ice Quik. T-Bout, known to many as his nick name, was awarded the 1979 Bishops Metal, an Usher,Trustee, and Lay Minister ;of St. Ritas Catholic Church.Survivors include his wife, Doris Bourque Boutte of Catahoula; his sons, Barry Boutte of Loreaville, Gerald 'Jay' Boutte and his wife, Kim of St. Martinville, and Ken Boutte and his wife, Julie of Catahoula; his daughters, Carol 'Tiny' Hebert and her husband, Scott of Catahoula and Deanine Oubre and her husband, Tim of St. Martinville; his brothers, Donald Boutte of Baton Rouge and Leslie Boutte and his wife, Bobbie of Loreauville; his sister, Doris Barras and her husband, Emile of Catahoula; his sister in law, Mazel Romero of New Iberia; his grandchildren, Jacie, Tyler, and Christian Boutte, Grant and Mattie Hebert and Kylie Boutte; and his great grandchild, Jackson Cormier. He was preceded in death by his parents, Archille Joseph Boutte and Olive Dugas Boutte; and his brother, Gerald 'Toke' Boutte. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Dion Hall in Catahoula from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 26, 2010 and continue at 7:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. Pallbearers will be his sons, Barry Boutte, Gerald 'Jay' Boutte, and Ken Boutte, Scott Hebert, Tim Oubre, Grant Hebert and Tyler Boutte. Honorary pallbearers will be Jake Addie, Donald and Leslie Boutte and Emile Barras. A special thanks to the staff of Lafayette General Medical Center, Hospice of Acadiana, Hariet Doucet, Lori Schiesser, Verna Pellerin, Linda Watkins, Carmen Guidry, family and friends who provided us with care and compassion during our time of need.
