Breaux Bridge A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Celeste Ishee Richard, 93, who passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2013.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, and continue on Wednesday at 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Fr. Allen Breaux will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Emaly and Bill Tucker. Gift Bearers will be Cherish Boudreaux, Kelly Caillier, and Tiffany Richard.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2.
Celeste was born on December 14, 1919 in Stringer, Mississippi. She was retired from South Central Bell Telephone, where she worked as a telephone operator for 30 years and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Club.
Celeste lived life to the fullest - enjoying her 30 years of retirement spending time visiting with her family, friends, and neighbors. She also enjoyed going on trips to the casino. Celeste loved working in her flowerbeds, baking, and cooking. An avid fan of football, she especially loved watching her football games.
She is survived by three sons, Frank Richard and his wife, Carol Miller, of Breaux Bridge, Kendall Richard of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Timpson "Joe" Richard of Breaux Bridge; her daughter, Vivian Thibodeaux and her husband, Glenn, of Breaux Bridge; one sister, Ruby Gass of Laurel, MS; one brother, Burnell Ishee of Kola, MS; five grandchildren, Cherish Boudreaux, Kelly Caillier, Rocky Richard, Tiffany Richard, and Brian Richard; and three great grandchildren, Conner Thibodeaux, Victoria Thibodeaux, and Libby Caillier.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Frank Richard, Sr.; her parents, James Burl Ishee and Lina Jane Smith Ishee; three sisters, Sally Mae Taylor of Laurel, MS, Emma Lene Hodge Pugh of Canton, MS, and Hannah Schmidt of Madison, MS; one brother, Jay Burl Ishee of Stringer, MS; her daughter-in-law, Ann Douet Richard; and an infant grandson, Chad Paul Thibodeaux.
Pallbearers will be Rocky Richard, Brian Richard, Preston Boudreaux, Shane Caillier, Conner Thibodeaux, and Bill Tucker.
Celestes family would like to extend their sincere heartfelt thanks and appreciation to: Drs. Warren J. Degatur, Jr. and Gus Ingraldi, their staffs, the staff at St. Martin Hospital, and to Nursing Specialty, for the wonderful care and attention given to her during her time of need.
